I don't add a game to my list until I've beaten it. Currently working through my backlog after finishing Elden Ring at 143h. 100% or nothing — mostly.

I cannot describe why this is good without ruining it. If you like games that make you feel genuinely small — not in a punishing way, but in an "oh, I'm just a person in a very large cosmos" way — please just play it. 18 hours felt like exactly the right length. One of maybe five games I'd call genuinely profound.

Silksong when. This game made me genuinely care about bugs, which I didn't think was possible. The lore delivery through item descriptions and environmental storytelling is as good as anything From Software has done — arguably better because it has actual emotional beats. The Pantheon of Hallownest took me three weeks of practice and the day I cleared it was one of the best gaming moments I've had.

143 hours and I still find new corners. The open world format feels like FromSoftware finally perfecting what they've been building toward since Demon's Souls. My only complaint: the final two bosses exist purely to punish you, and not in the satisfying way this series usually does. That doesn't stop this from being a masterpiece. The sense of discovery you get just wandering Limgrave for the first time is something I'll chase in games for years.
