Outer Wilds is a critically-acclaimed and award-winning open world mystery about a solar system trapped in an endless time loop. The newest member of the space program in a small village on the planet Timber Hearth, the player navigates a space shuttle and travels across their solar system to get to the bottom of its mysteries by exploring the cosmos and gathering the knowledge hidden within each of the system's planets, left behind by another civilization in the distant past.

I cannot describe why this is good without ruining it. If you like games that make you feel genuinely small — not in a punishing way, but in an "oh, I'm just a person in a very large cosmos" way — please just play it. 18 hours felt like exactly the right length. One of maybe five games I'd call genuinely profound.
The only game I can think of that is measurably better the less you know about it. I discovered it by accident and I'm still annoyed I read even one review before starting. The Ash Twin Project sequence is the finest moment in video game storytelling I've encountered, and I play a lot of games. Also the music is perfect. Don't let anyone tell you anything.
