dad of two, play games after the kids go to bed. mostly cozy stuff these days but i still have a soft spot for long open-world games. taking forever to finish things and that's fine

Played this co-op with my wife across two evenings. We were both smiling the entire time. It keeps reinventing itself — just when you think you've figured out what kind of game it is, it becomes something else entirely. The best co-op experience I've had since Portal 2. If you have a partner who games even occasionally, this is mandatory.

Bought this when my wife was pregnant with our first. By the time our daughter arrived, I had 200 hours on it. I genuinely don't know what it does to my brain but it's like white noise for anxiety. We eventually did a shared farm together and got another 180 hours out of it. Some games are for everyone. This is one of them.

This game arrived at exactly the right moment. March 2020. We all needed a small calm island and Nintendo delivered. 220 hours is a lot for something so low-stakes. The seasonal events, the collecting, the way time passes in real time — it's unlike anything else in gaming. Would be a 9 if the late-game content wasn't so repetitive.
